In the summer, Kvilda is an ideal launching pad for hiking and cycling. In winter, it offers many maintained cross-country trails and two ski slope and ski lifts for beginners and childern.

The longest Czech river starts as a very cold stream on the Eastern slope of the mountain Černá hora (1,316 m above sea level) at an altitude of 1,172 m and is also called Černý potok (Dark stream).
